As long as I can remember, I have always been an outcast. I’ve never fit in anywhere, and to this day, I still don’t. FOR example, the words that best describe me are as follows: eccentric, misunderstood, freak, bizarre, peculiar, and just plain ole WEIRD. So let me tell you why…
At random, I’m known to blurt out song lyrics (or reference anything from pop culture) if it relates to the situation. To go along with that, I listen to any and everything that interests me. One minute I’ll listen to R&B, the next country, then metal, and even New Age. I dance whenever the mood strikes and make crazy, erratic noises if I feel it’s too quiet. Unlike most women, I love watching action and horror movies, but loathe romcoms. I’m a transitioning minimalist that aims to have a capsule wardrobe, but would die at the opportunity of having a year’s worth of clothing from Iris Apfel’s closet. I always want opposing things, but being the Libra that I am, it’s all about balance.
From school to work and even family, I have always stood alone. And while that may seem scary to some, I can be the one to assure you that it is quite the opposite. People consider anyone that goes against the social norm to be different and that is somewhat true. I mean, if you’re not the same as everyone else, then you are (in fact) DIFFERENT.
But my question to you is — why aim to fit in when we all were destined to stand out? BE YOUR MOST AUTHENTIC, UNAPOLOGETIC SELF! Never allow anyone to label you and if they do, you have the power to choose if you want to live up to their standards or not.
By being the (UN) “cool kid”, I have become the amazing person I am because I can think for myself and I live a happy, carefree life by doing so. I know what I want, what I like, and I need no one’s approval to be me…
